CD Inners

Here you can see the inserts that will go on the inside of our CD case. We kept them very simple as we did not want to go overboard. On the left inner we put the name of the album to remind people of what the album is called as it is her first album. We kept the rest of it black and with nothing else on it to show that she has room to grow in the music industry and increase her star persona. For the right inner we kept the same ideas as the left one to help with continuity. In the bottom right corner we include the company logo 'MOR music' to help increase publicity to the label.

Our CD is called 'I'm ready now' as its her debut album, which represents she is ready to start competing in the music industry. On the front cover of our CD cover we changed the original image into black and white. We also distorted the background so that it made the picture of her stand out more. We added colour to her eyes so that it attracts the audience. On the back of the CD cover we had a spotlight shining across the back of the CD cover so it makes the audience look at the songs on the CD. We did all editing for our CD cover using photoshop

Our project so far (cont.)

Since the last update, our group has filmed a small bit of our music video. We cannot film some of the main bits because the main girl in the video is not always available, and so can only film at certain times in the week.

Our deadline has been set as the 31st January. If we continue to work at the pace we are working at, at the moment then we should complete our music video, tour poster and CD cover all at the same time.

We still have a couple of shots left to film before our music video is complete. Also we are hoping that we will have our song recorded by the end of this week as we have now found someone who will play the guitar part of the song for us. The last thing that we have to do is take some photos for our tour poster. We have already created a template to use for it but just need to lay the picture over the top.

Ancillary Text Designs

These are some designs that we drew up before creatign our ancillary texts on the computer. We did this to give us an idea of what each one would look like. This also meant we could make any amendments there and then instead of doing it on our final one.

CD cover ideas

These are some existing CD covers by female acoustic artists that i have found on the Internet. We can use these images to help use decide what sort of image we want on the front of our cover, and what other acoustic albums look like. After looking at these pictures we have decided that the most that we should use a close up of our artist. This will follow the common codes and conventions of the CD covers we have looked at. As well as the photo, we needed to look at where the name of the album and artist were positioned on the cover. As well as the font, size and colour of it. After looking at these album covers, we have realised that most of the font on the cover i sin white which makes it easy to see and read.

Our project so far

So far in our media project we have got nearly all of our filming done and only have a few shots left to film. We haven’t been able to film some of our shots due to the weather, as there would be continuity errors. The shots that we have done are now uploaded onto the computer and we have started to edit them and put them in the correct order, in relation to our video. However we still do not have our song recorded as we have had some trouble with the guitar part of the song, so we are still waiting on it. To resolve this problem and carry on with our editing, we have used the original song off YouTube and put it against our filming so we can see what it looks like.

As well as doing our filming and editing, we have started to collate ideas that we have had for the CD cover and tour poster. We will soon start taking these pictures and editing them when we are near to finishing our music video. If we carry on working at the rate we are we should finish all, music video, CD cover and tour poster around about the same time.

Mood Board

This is a mood board that I created related to the genre of music that we chose to base our music video on. We did this so we could use ideas from the mood board to construct scenes in our music video.

The way my mood board is set out it represents the two sides of acoustic music. It starts with the 'good side'; I used sunsets and beaches which are associated with tranquility and then moved into scenery which the acoustic genre is stereotypically linked with. I then ripped some of the pictures to show the transition into the 'bad side' of the genre. I did this because it could portray how something can turn out for the worst, which could be used as a stimulus for a narrative in our music video.
